Craniotomy Trainer XR

Practice the planned craniotomy at 1:1 scale on a Meta Quest 3 (VR or passthrough) or in this browser. Academic exercise: not a medical device, not for clinical use.

Physical and physiological parameters

Scalp thickness (adult range 3–5 mm)	4.0 mm
Frontal bone thickness (CT means ≈ 6.6–8.0 mm)	7.5 mm
Normal brain shear stiffness (MRE)	≈ 3 kPa
Meningioma stiffness (MRE, mean ± SD)	3.8 ± 1.7 kPa
Brain shift after dural opening (mean)	4.4 mm
Normal ICP	5–15 mmHg
CPP below which ischemia risk rises	< 60 mmHg

Values are literature references used to drive a teaching model. The skull is approximated from these thicknesses (T1 MRI does not show bone well). Tissue stiffness only changes controller vibration and tool speed; there is no validated soft-tissue mechanics.
